About Ms. Ellingson
How I came to teach at Alliance College Ready Middle Academy #8:
I came to teach at ACRMA8 for the 2015-16 school year. Before teaching in middle school, I was in grad school for History of Science. There I taught science to freshmen students, as well as some history classes. I am thrilled to be part of the Alliance family, and I am so excited to share my love of science with you! Who I am: I am a middle child of five, with a Moroccan-Israeli father and Danish mother. I've lived in Los Angeles most of my life, with some years spent in Copenhagen, Denmark; Las Vegas, Nevada; and San Luis Obispo, California. My free time is spent with my family and my puppy. My parents taught me to learn as much as could in life, and that is what I continue to do. I read as much as possible, travel as much as possible, and see as much as possible, so I can learn as much as possible about the world. I have an insatiable interest about life, and that is why I love, and love to teach, science. There are countless phenomena to explore, and I am continually in awe of nature. What I stand for: I want all students to have the best education. I teach with that in mind, and I hold my students to high expectations. There is no reason students should expect anything less. I believe that science literacy is one of the most important aspects of education today, and that our students must be knowledgeable about the scientific issues that surround us. Science literacy is critical in making informed personal and social choices, and learning science literacy skills today is important for our students' futures. |
